Sri Lanka’s National Men’s Volleyball Team has registered a massive victory in the Central Asian Volleyball Championship 2024 by defeating 15th-ranked Iran.
The Sri Lankan volleyball team, ranked 60th in the World Volleyball Rankings, defeated Iran in straight sets (3-0) in the 4th match of the ongoing Championships.
Overcoming their opponents in the first set with scores of 25-22, Sri Lanka went on to clinch the second set 25-17, while in the final set, despite some fight by Iran, Sri Lanka managed to win with scores of 25-21.
The win against Iran comes after Sri Lanka lost their first two games against Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan, but made a comeback to beat Afghanistan in the third game.
Sri Lanka will meet Turkmenistan in their fifth and final game of the first round of the Championships today (May 16).
