In a historic political shift, Colombo’s iconic Green stronghold has turned Red, with NPP’s Vraie Cally Balthazar elected as the new Mayor of Colombo.

This victory marks a significant change at the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), which had long been under the dominance of the United National Party (UNP).

Following a secret ballot, NPP’s Vraie Cally Balthazaar elected Mayor of Colombo with 61 votes, while SJB’s Riza Zarook receives 54 votes
