The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds over the next 36 hours across several parts of Sri Lanka.

Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts, with some areas likely to receive over 100mm of rain.

Strong winds of 50–60 kmph are forecast for the western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Elsewhere, winds of 30–40 kmph are expected.
