The Western Province Provincial Road Passenger Transport Authority has announced a revision of three-wheeler fares with effect from October 7.
Under the new rates, the charge for the first km remains at Rs. 100, while the rate for the second km will be reduced to Rs. 85.
The new fares must be applied to the meter taxi system, and the revised rates should be clearly displayed on the front left side of the three-wheeler for passengers to see.
Lalith Dharmasekara, Chairman of the All-Island Three-Wheeler Drivers’ Association, urged the authority to monitor compliance with the new fares and take legal action against those who fail to follow the directive.
