The High Security Zones road from ‘Temple Trees’ to Rotunda Roundabout has reopened after nearly 20 years, having been closed since 2005!

Since the 1970s, Temple Trees has been declared a high security zone with many roads around the mansion and its grounds closed off due to the Sri Lankan Civil War and the 2022 Sri Lankan protests.

The road adjoining Temple Trees, extending from Kollupitiya Mosque to the Rotunda Roundabout has been reopened to the public after a prolonged closure due to security concerns.

The road, which had been inaccessible for an extended period, was reopened following a review of the current security situation by the new Government.

This decision is expected to ease traffic flow in the surrounding areas and provide greater convenience to the public.
