The United National Party (UNP) says that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe will not contest the upcoming General Election but will act as an advisor to the party.

The Deputy Leader of the UNP, Ruwan Wijewardena also stated that Wickremesinghe does not expect to enter Parliament through the National List.

Moreover, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardena has invited the SJB and all opposition parties to form a grand Alliance to join forces & contest upcoming General Election.
