Colombo goes on High Alert | Dengue cases recorded for 2024 has topped the 35,000 mark!

The tally of dengue cases recorded for 2024 has topped the 35,000 mark, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.

As of August 20, a total of 35,375 cases have been reported in 2024, with the highest number being from the Colombo district, which stood at 8,599.

The Western Province has recorded 14,448 cases, the highest province-wise while the month of August has also logged 2,630 Dengue cases.

Due to recent heavy rainfall in several parts of Sri Lanka, health officials are urging people to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and eliminate mosquito breeding sites to keep dengue at bay.
