Iran has launched a wave of missiles at Israel hours after White House officials warned Tehran was “imminently” planning to attack.

Missiles were seen over the skies of Israel as the Iron Dome system activated.

Israelis have been told to shelter in place and remain close to bomb shelters as its military warned of a possible “wide-ranging” Iranian missile attack.

Earlier on Tuesday, a senior US official had warned of “severe consequences” for Iran should a direct attack on Israel take place.

US President Joe Biden says the United States is prepared to help Israel defend itself from Iranian missile attacks and to protect the American military in the region.

“We discussed how the United States is prepared to help Israel defend against these attacks, and protect American personnel in the region,” Biden said on X about a meeting held with Vice President Kamala Harris and the White House national security team earlier in the day.
