The government today approved a project to implement “Artificial Intelligence-related Students’ Societies” as a pilot project in 100 schools, Cabinet spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.
He told the media that the project will be started with the participation of students from Grades 6 to 9.
Accordingly, it has been decided to expand this programme among other schools in the coming years based on the results of this project.
This proposal was presented as a joint proposal by the President in his capacity as the Technology Minister and Education Minister.
“It has been identified that it is appropriate to provide an opportunity to the students to engage in studies relevant to artificial intelligence in order to achieve the objectives of creating citizens who can face future global trends and to obtain their contribution to economic development effectively, the Minister said.
